Recoding a plip receiver on a BX

can anyone help i have followed the instructions on the http://www.rwbsmith.plus.com/citroen2/plip/ site including the oddity of L becoming O and O becoming L but i cannot get it to work i have tried 2 receivers so i must be doing something wrong in recoding the receiver to the transmitter.
