C5 2.2 info
Hi all, have just joined, I have a 2001 2.2 C5 estate purchased 15 months old with 2500 miles on the clock. Now has 110,000!!. I LOVE IT. Reading your postings the following may be of interest. I have my car serviced in France and the costs are quite a bit cheaper, parts particularly. eg; particle filter fitted France £290 England £440, this appears to be the same with all parts. Servicing labour around £20-00 per hour plus vat. If I can help anyone with prices or info email me.

Hi,
I recently got myself a 2002 C5 2.2 Hdi saloon.
When I accelerate at low speed the turbo whistle is very loud, almost like there is an air leak. Does your turbo sound noisy at low speed ?
If I accelerate hard then the turbo goes quiet and the engine seems to pull ok. Could the excess low speed turbo noise be due to the EGR valve being open. Or, is the low speed turbo pressure high and I have a high pressure leak ?

Kev,
I have a 2.2 HDi, and you certainly can hear the turbo whistle when it cuts in, but I wouldn't call it intrusive - in fact, you can only hear it with the windows open.
One reason for turning the aircon off and driving with the windows open!
To be fair, it's no noisier than my Xantia HDi 90. But it's certainly a lot faster.
After almost twelve months with the C5, I can certainly recommend it. I still like the Xantia, and it does have advantages - The interior colour scheme is better (black alcantara, black dash and carpets -v- beige alcantara, beige lower dash and carpets), the auto wipers work on the Xantia and the fuel consumption is much better. C5 is much roomier, much faster, xenon headlights are brilliant and it's a fantastic towcar.
I hope you enjoy your C5
