Buying Used Xsara Estate or Picasso...what to look out for?

Post by Plane Fixer »

Hi there, I was just after some advice. I currently own a ZX TD Estate that has given many years of good service but someone decided to smash in the back (big time...must of been a 4x4 or a bus!!!) while it was parked in a car park...Anyway, I was looking to get another vehicle and on my shortlist are both the Xsara Estate and Picasso 2.0Hdi. I was just wondering from experiences on this forum what to look out for when buying used (apart from the obvious making sure everything works). Also I have serviced my ZX TD estate over the last six years, is it still possible to do the majority of the work on these vehicles with the 2.0Hdi engines?

Thanks for any help.
Give me a Boeing any day, at least I can read the wiring diagrams!

I'd be careful if you are considering an HDI with an auto box as there are some issues with this combination (see honest john website)

If I was on a budget I would not go near a HDI, they just seem a little weak (as in sensitive) to things from what I've read on here and would stick with the robust XUD's 8)

That is true but my previous HDI was so much nicer to drive. If you can find a good one look after it!!!
