Clutch Cable.
While my clutch is fine at the moment, there is no further adjustment available on the clutch cable. Can there be an extra piece braised,or welded onto the clutch cable to facilitate further adjustment if (& when) required at a later stage. Or is my next step a new clutch ?. There is 150,000 miles covered on this clutch, so I suppose at this stage it owes me nothing, considering that a Main Dealer advised fitting a new clutch 50,000 miles ago,(quoting £350 - £400 for the job, as the clutch pedal was difficult to move. However a new clutch cable solved that problem. Any ideas?

On a CX I once had a similar problem with, I used a couple of washers and a nut between the adjusting nut & the arm to act like a spacer.
The cable eventually broke so I suspect the cable was in the process of stretching rather than the clutch collapsing. Mind you it took about 7 years for the cable to snap <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle>

Nice one, Ben. I'll give that one with the split washer a go myself.
My 95N Xantia's only done about 84K, but the engagement point for the clutch is getting rather close to the floor and my gear changes aren't as smooth as they used to be. Not crunching exactly, but gently grumbling.
Speaking of which, I bought a spare clutch cable this year to stick in the boot before I went off for my hols in France. Apparently, a right-hand-drive clutch cable is the one component that your average Gitane-smoking Citroen garage-owner in France simply can't get his hands on for love or money. 'Cos his customers all drive left-hookers, of course, and there's no demand for the Eenglish version. Fifteen quid well spent, if only for the peace of mind.
