Citroen C6, am i missing somthing ?
I've just been to Citroens website looking at the C6 Spec's, can anybody explain to me why anybody would buy the 3.0V6 Engine over then 2.7Hdi Engine when the Hdi is faster 0-60 and does more MPG? Maybe i'm just being stupid.

If you want something fast and quiet at tickover and have plenty of money, buy a petrol. If you want something that is just as fast a little noiser at tickover but quieter on the motorway and havn't got money to burn, run a diesel - I've been running them since 1960 when they were slow noisey and smelly - but a lot of petrol cars wern't much better.

Saw the C6 on Top Gear the other night. The wife was with me and as a rule she doesn't like big cars. This one she said " I like that, nice and BIG all over,". Must say the rear concave window is a great piece of design if nothing eles. And to get J.Clarkson to like it....well there must be somthing right. 8)
The wifes got a C4 I've got a ZX TD SX!!!!
i never thought i'd like a diesel, but i do now, driven petrol all my life until the 106 i had, and what was slow yes, noisy yes, but it worked hard, and did well, it felt indestructable. now i've got my 2.1td, can't beat it, quick, and quiet at speeds.
my workmate was lookin for a new car and he wanted a 2.0 focus, i suggested he try the tdci engine they have (psa developed if i'm right) so he can save on a bit of fuel and still have the so so speed. he wouldn't go close to it, he said he thought of it, but decided not to, he didn't even want test drive it, i know for a fact he would have bought if he'd have tried it... and these people who turn them down because of the cost, need to get a calculator out and do the sums (especially if they do long distance) before saying no...
having said that, i want a V6 xantia or XM next, sorry.

Driving a 2.1TD you will be disappointeddeian wrote:having said that, i want a V6 xantia or XM next, sorry.
A V6 has its qualities - but its more like back to the Ford Sierra V6 era - than a new generation HDI.
Find the datasheets and compare - and you realise what I'm trying to tell you.

Winning the petrol/diesel debate on most Citroen forums is pretty much impossible and the only diesel Xantia's i've driven are the 2.0HDi and 1.9TurboD.
I drove a turboD to switzerland for the ICCCR, i found it rather slow but fuel consumption was in the mid-high 40's.
The HDI i only drove for about 10 miles on a test drive. At the time i found it smooth and refined but compared to the BX GTi 8v i was driving at the time i thought it felt slow.
The V6 Xantia is totally different, anybody who hasnt driven one needs to!

As I said above : the V6 has its qualities. period.
Now diesel technology has surpassed ancient V6 technology and way of thinking - by several Nm's & mpg's - and even a couple of acc seconds less
What is the BIIIIG difference in having 250Nm at 3500rpm - or at 1800rpm ? - ever tried it out ?

Without getting into a pointless arguement..... try owning/running the V6 for a short time and all will be revealed..... marvellous (and certainly nothing like a sierra V6 )[quote="AndersDK]Driving a 2.1TD you will be disappointed
