2 questions ZX Track Rod Ends

Post by citroenbx »

Hi there.Whats the best way to take these 11 year old ends off ? Well solid.

Would it be a good idea to Copper Grease the new ones for easy adjustment ?
Thanks for now

Brute force is the only way to get them off. Make sure you are twisting them the right way, look at the thread. Some ordinary grease pushed into the hollow end should ensure they come undone next time.

Slacken the lock nut, and loosen the track rod in the arm BEFORE you undo the taper - this gives you something to work against, otherwise it all flops about 8) Usual rules - wire brush, Plus Gas, hammer possibly, heat if won't come. Once you've backed off the lock nut, same again for the track arm.

also before you move the track rod end at all mesure the length from the center rear of the swivel pin to a fixed point on the track rod, this may be some masking tape, then only just loosen the lock nut,do not move it away from the trac rod end, this will set the tracking roughly where it was but still have the tracking checked as soon as posible after you have finnished
