new cambelt
headbolts set
headgasket
prooven good TD head
The unknown variable here is the cost of the TD head. A new or recon head will most likely be more than a good complete s/h engine. But still consider the amount of work involved.
Has the cam sheared in the head ?
Thing is, that to do that much repair work on the engine, it would be faster and easier to remove the engine to do it... I'll almost always pull the engine to do a TD head now... it saves an awful lot of skinned knuckles. Good point... If I had the necessary equipment available I would definately consider whipping the engine out next time.... even just to save the wear and tear on my back! This is no small unit by the way.... 4 blokes struggle to lift my spare.
