All of the rear lights on my Xantia have gone milky white and dull with the exception of the o/s wing mounted unit which looks brand new. I have seen several cars on the road and in scrap yards with the same thing and always the o/s wing mounted cluster looks like new.
Question;
Is there a product known to restore the clusters to nice shiny newness?
Cheers
Dave

I use a silicone oil spray and it works for a couple of months before they begin to become dull again.
On my car it is all four rear lights which are affected. And I don't think they ever were shiny on the MK1.
Some years ago I was in a company producing handheld instruments. We used the "magic" new generation polymere colour shine for cars to restore the finish or remove scratches - on units circulated thru production line corrections.
Usually the finish were better than OK units never touced
Use a colour shine matching close as possible the colour impression of the plastic lenses on the light units seen from a distance. My guess is a dark red will fit nicely. Note : the colour does not really put any colour to the surface - it just does some "magic" hiding scratches - and makes for a super polished finish on plastic surfaces.
It's frustrating they do this after such a relatively short time! My driver's side one is shiny, but I presumed it was replaced at some point. Interested to see it still happens in the UK, I thought it might be our harsh sun in Oz. 8)
Might try the color restorer as nothing else has worked very well, and is cheaper than a couple of hundred dollars for a replacement.
I guess leithant means Australian Dollars (1 AUD = 0.4 GBP).
I have to pay GBP 40 per light (GBP 160 total) in Denmark.
I think I'll just stick to the silicone spray.
Dave, if you rub a little LHM fluid into the lamps everytime you wash the car (once dry) you will find the lamps come up pretty good, same with the silver strips down the side of your car and bumper
