Xantia brake light

Post by Clogzz »

Hi all,

Can someone confirm that this drawing from PR-Net shows that the tail light can only be bought as a complete assembly, and if so, at what price ?
The main plastic part of ‘A’ is broken at the mountings, and the light fell off, and dangled by the wires.
That’s the belated consequence of a rough reassembly job by the apprentices of a tinting mob that applied window tinting soon after I bought the car in 1997.
The part number is 6351 A8.

The PR-Net that I have does not allow to check prices. :?
I haven’t tried asking the local Citroën stealer yet.
They’re so monumentally incompetent that they need the car’s VIN number to find anything.
Even then, I would have to look at their screen to point out what I’m after.

Thanks for your troubles. :)

Yes -

When listed that way - you can only get item 1 as a complete assembly - containing bits A, B, 5 & 2.
6350.A8 - SUPPLEMENTARY STOP LIGHT - Dkr144,10

Dkr 144,10 ~ UK£13 (+ vat)

I would like Andrew to confirm this price when logging in as a UK PR-net user. Its fairly cheap I'd say.

Wow, just checked my UK version and get hit with NINETY GB Pounds!!!!

00006351A8 SUPPLEMENTARY STOP LIGHT 76.60 90.01 1

The number quoted by Anders in the reply above is for the later models where the light is mounted into the rear edge of the taigate, above the number plate.

Time to go find one elsewhere I think.........

Just found I made a serious error

I got no price indication for the early type (RP until 7237) 6351.A8 - which is the one Clogzz requested.
The one I submitted is the later type (RP 7238 on) 6350.A8 - which would be the sept. '96 on. I wonder if you could use that in a '97 model Clogzz

Thanks for the quick replies, but ouch !
The car is of 1995 vintage, bought second-hand in 1997.
Anything like £90, and it won’t get replaced. :(
There aren’t many Citroëns here, so finding one from a wreck won’t be simple.

I wonder what the difference is on the 2 versions here ?
- the facelift of the chassis is later than RP 7238

The Mk I had the light at the top of the window until RPO 07237.
Later versions of the Mk I had it in the rear panel, as on the Mk II.
This drawing is for the Mk I from RPO 07238:

Was behind a 406 today, same brake light at top of window as Xantia.
Will try to find Peugeot price, hoping it’s not higher or different because of the multiplex. :?
And will post any finding worth sharing.

Mk one 406 wasnt multiplex.

Plenty of 406s in the scrap yards too.

Multiplexing aint gonna have an effect on the light unit anyway.

Its just 2 x terminals, A + & a - Just make sure the plug & working voltage is the same.

Go for the earlier 406 high level stop light if you can, These use LEDS & not bulbs.

Advantages of LEDS, They react quicker & come on just before the 2 lower stop lights.

LEDs dont hardly ever go wrong or need replacing like bulbs would

Thanks for that useful information, PowerLee.
The light has 2 spade connectors only.
At worst, it will be the opportunity for another bodgie.
If the assembly itself is the same, I may only have to transfer the plastic mounting part listed as ‘A’ in the top drawing.

On the 406s

The plastic cover is clipped to the 2 brackets on the roof.

Once the cover is removed the light is screwed to the roof using 2 x screws.

If you get a 406 light get the connector plug & a bit of the wiring at the same time
