ferociously clicking indicator really - xantia

Post by jgra1 »

Folks, the relay is clicking double speed when you so much as touch the incator stalk. Both indicators work fine, as normal.

My question, is this bad contact likely to be the column stalk switch or the relay?

I guess whatever is casuing it, its a replacement as against a fix..

It's a combination of a worn indicator stalk and an over-sensitive relay. It's possible to solder a resistor into the relay to fix this, or find a less worn stalk. Whichever is easier for you.

Do a search on the forum, there is a longer post going into more detail on this.

As a temporary fix, put your hazard warning switch on for about 2 minutes and you'll find that will give you some relief. (I know, it sounds like a joke but it does work) and when you get the time, here's the permanent fix from all accounts.

Alan, thanks
I have been reading the other posts on this too...

So, hopefully a 2K resistor in parallel with present one should do the trick :)

wil let you know

No - aparantly its the other way round - you need to IN-crease the resistor value - which you can NOT do by a parallel connected resistor

yes think i have got you Anders ;)

increasing the amount of resistors decrease the resistance...

but, didnt you say on a different post .. that there is a 1K and it sohuld be a 100 Ohm..?

I am happy to remove Resistor R2 and replace.. but just need to get it right ;)
