Xantia Alarm, Clock and Radio Problem

Post by soupy_sam »

Xantia 1995 TD

The Alarm stopped working as did the remote central locking, the clock and the radio do not hold their memory any more these things all happened at the same time, are they connected?

I have checked all fuses and they are all fine, what else could it be????? :?:

Thats a constant +12V battery feed missing. Pretty obvious its Fuse F8 or F25 burnt then. Located in the fuse box (not the max fuse boxes).

Use a HiWattage bulb instead of a fuse if it keeps burning. This way you can immediately see when you have found the problem during any fault tracing - as the bulb will extinguish then.

I have checked all the fuses again and they are all OK. I have checked all fuses in box under dash board and the other fuses next to the battery box.

What else could it be please??? :?:

How did you check the fuses ?

With a buzzer, an ohm meter or battery + lamp ?
A visual check is no good.

Try further trace which electric functions may also be missing - the "popular" (not !) missing function is the rear window demister.

Yes have a 5 amp fuse on new wire. Is 5 amp to big for radio/cd and clock?

No, not too big, 5 Amps is the smallest-sized fuse used in the Xantia.
BOL 1996 lists fuse F1 under dash, 10 Amps, for radio and CD player.
That allows for the current drain of a smallish car radio amplifier.
