ok, i know its not the biggest deal of the year, and petrol prices are high. but i have just done something possibly quite silly....

made and had an offer accepted on a mark 2 3.0 V6 Auto Xantia, 69K 1998!

please no one tell me any horror stories..

my present car is a lovely 1.8i V reg December 99 Xantia in Dark blue, drives perfectly, if anyone wants it, let me know.. taxed and 11 months MOT.
82K

My next plan is possbily to fit LPG to the 3 litre.. should be a very useful tool then..

I am nervous about insurance, 31 years old and i think its group 16..

My previous cars have all been peugoet/citroen 1905 TD's...

i need a drink

Isn't the age-related bit of your insurance as low as it's ever going to be by the time you're 31?

As stated , I don't think age is your problem, but MPG may be!!

My bet is that your 3 litre petrol engine fitted to an auto box wont do more than about 30 to the gallon!!! And round town it may well fall below 20!! :?

Converting to gas will be expensive, and when it's done the car will be performing more like a 1.6 !!

Give it a good clean and polish, then sell it on again and buy a nice diesel auto :)

Ha... listen to the guys who havent got one giving the advice :P Just think of the reason that you bought it... I'll bet it was because you knew it would have oodles of seamless power and that it is the best combination of engine/Xantia you could buy. You've bought it! Now just enjoy. Oh and watch out for green eyed monsters =P~ (only joking James)

Once you drive it you wont be able to get rid of it, but you may be disappointed with a gas conversion as these engines are designed to run best on 98 octane fuel, although they will happily run on standard unleaded you wont get full power unless you use super.

I don't think insurance will be as bad as you think. If you shop around you should be able to get it under £300.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

thanks all

.. will it have active suspension? I know it has a sports button inside but I am not sure if that is for holding the auto gears for longer?

re: gas.. I would have hoped that with 200HP, that switching to that on motorways etc I would be fine, even if 10-20% power is missing?
just dial up 80 on the cruise and sit back ;)

I just wish,,, it was manual.. I am more than happy to convert.. what do you think? not in the near future tho...

OK the button by the shifter is for the 'sport' mode and the 'ice' mode which controls the shift changes accordingly.

The button on the dash to the right of the steering column puts the suspension into sport or hard mode.

My insurance bill was getting a little stupid with all my cars and the hassle of renewing each time (different times of the year) so this year i got a motor trader policy.

This allows me to drive ANY car other than USA imports fully comp. Being 23 it costs me £800.

Hi people,

I thought LPG had o RON of 100?

Ian, tell us more about the fleet insurance you have? Do you have to have a business to do this? OR can anyone call up and say i've got so many cars and they'll give you a mad quote for it. I assume it's third party for all you drive?

And jgra1, well done mate, you got balls, I want one too!

Thanks mate.

Best pull your finger out then and buy mine!!! LOL!

On a more serious note...! My insurance is a based on me being 23 and being able to drive any car. I'm not a motor trader, i dont work in the motor trade but i have plenty of cars and i do get through a fair few. I dont buy and sell to make profit however, i'm just an enthusiast.
