WTF were the French thinking of when they decided to use twist off connectors on radiators. Whan a shower of b'stards!
And...5 hoses? What's that all about, then?

Great fun arn't they, even better was finding out that my local citroen peugeot dealers charged me less for the part at the peugeot counter than the Citroen counter.teethgrinder wrote:WTF were the French thinking of when they decided to use twist off connectors on radiators. Once you have the pipe off, play with the twist clip to see exactly how it works, and give it a good coating of grease. I found that the new "O" ring was to 'fat' to be usable?? It simply would NOT go in once fitted to the pipe so I cleaned and reused the old one..
Tip.. My mechanic tells me its better to take the pipe off from the other end, and fit the clip and "O" ring whilst the rad is out of the car, then feed the pipe back in through the hole in the wing as you put the rad back.. This is because they have a nasty habit of blowing apart after a few days if not perfectly fitted.. oeerr lol....
When putting the small bottom hoses back on make sure they don't foul the fan belt! one of my bottom hoses had quite a flat worn on it by the belt due to it being badly routed..

I think I am conceding defeat with the rad from the scrappy. Managed to get the final hose re-fitted. and the rad put back in place, out for a run, and up goes the gauge to 110 for a little bit. Arse. The rad doesn't seem to be getting hot, so I take it off and reverse flush it, and refit. Same again.
I guess that the rad is too blocked with silt to allow the coolant to pass, so I will hunt down a new one, and replace the hoses I massacred on the way.
That'll learn me to get a rad from a scrappy, then!!
