possbily lend me an aircon pressure guage?

i don`t want to overfill mine

will of course pay for postage both ways - unless you live near me then i can just come and get it!

Aircon systems aren't filled on pressure, they are filled on mass (weight) of gas.

A set of refridgerant gauges won't tell you if the system is full or not. (or over full)

What will tell you is the sight glass.

Hmm........ sounds like "Fairy Liquid" to me...

I think you have a washing machine fitted, not air conditioning.

Not to worry though..Your air flow may not be cold, but at least it will be clean..

With R134A, bubbles in the sight glass are not necwssarily a sign of low gas. I agree that you need to fill the system by weight.
The best option is to find an honest independent A/C specialist (if you say where you are, you may get a recomendation).
The modern machines remove the old gas from your system and measure the quanity, so you should only pay for the extra gas needed to top-up the system.
An alternative is to release all your existing gas and then refill to the correct level by weighing the container from which your gas comes.

When I had the Xantia regassed they added a green dye. I was told it was to spot any leaks.
