Instrument Lights OUT

Post by mattpc »

Started the car at night to drive 90 miles home only to find the instrument lights were not working! By this I mean the back lights that illuminate the speedo and rev counter. Everything else worked on the car including the actual car headlights thank god.. I started the car quickly and I think this may have blown a relay as the dash lights were on before the car started. I had a similar experience earlier in the year when I started the car in a hurry and the headlights died. There was nothing wrong with the fuses and I had to get an auto spark to come and sort it out. He was a bit of a tool and wouldn't tell me how he fixed it but I suspected it was a relay. I think it might be this time but I cant find any info in the Haynes or the users manual about which/where the relays are and what each one controls. Any ideas please?

The dash light adjuster is under the lower steering column shroud.
It's very loose, and easily gets 'maladjusted' with the knee. :)
