xsara hand brake adjustment

Post by rabenson »

Does anyone know if the handbrake on the xsara is self adjusting? if so, is there any procedure to assist it - my handbrake is becoming decidedly weak..... 8-[

Cheers,

Ron

It should be - they use similar screw out calipers to the front of hydraulic cits. Just press the brake pedal down hard a few times and it should adjust up. If not, you may have a cable on the way out, or the pads are worn out - more investigation will be required.

Certainly my BX handbrake (sounds like the same thing) adjusts best if I press hard on the brake and pull the lever up a few times while maintaining pressure on the brake.
