dashboard lights query

I was looking today, and noticed that two might not work, so i'd like some advice here please, if you please...

seatbelt light - it's in the user manual, do all xantias comes with this light, mine isn't there or the bulb isn't working?

and

side airbag light - how so i know for sure i have side airbags? the light doesn't come on for this either, so before messing behind the dashboard how do i know i have side airbags, it's a mk2 2.1TD exclusive from born in march 1998 if that gives any clues?

Not sure about the seatbelt light. But surely side airbags should be visible, marked on the side of the driver seat. I think they may have been an option on later models, perhaps standard on later exclusives.

The seatbelt light!! What does it says it is for? My light started coming on ages ago and its not in my manual.

Now when i start the engine, and put my seatbelt on the rear drivers side window opens. O the joys!

You cant beat french electrics

It could be worse, you could be a Ranault or Alfa / Fiat owner

they're both in the manual, never seen neither one, today or before, since i've had it.

talk about french electrics, i disconnected the battery today to clean the tray and terminals, and when i put it all back together i wanted to close the drivers side electric window, it wouldn't go up all in one go, it kept going up in steps of about 2 inches until it closed. very weird.

That behaviour is in the handbook. You are resetting the automatic closing system.

When i start my engine i get the "Air Bag" light come on for about 4 seconds then goes off, does this not happen on yours?

I do not have side airbags, just driver and passenger. It just says "Air Bag"

yes i know, airbag light works ok on mine, for cars that have side airbags there is an additional light on them, and my query is, how do i know i have side airbags to know whether the light should be there or not? it's a question about 'side airbags', sorry if i wasn't clear.

Look at the side of the seat on the backrest for a plastic cover or for a small cloth tag that has the word AIRBAG on it.

If it doesnt have either of those then theres no side airbags fitted.

thanks for that powerlee, so no airbag, no signs of the word airbag on the side, so that eliminated the side airbag light, about the seatbelt light? thanks so far

My Exclusive has side air bags and their is no seperate dash panel light!! just as there is no seperate light that says 'passenger airbag' or 'drivers airbag'

ok so we've established that i have no side airbags, i was just curious as the user manual for the car says there is a seperate side airbag light, go see!

Any news about the seatbelt light though?
