I noticed that some Xantias (later ones) have Auto switch on Headlights and Wipers. Is this standard from a certain age? is it part of the Winter Pack? is it an optional extra?

i've got the auto wipers on an exclusive, but never heard of the auto headlights (unless mine aren't working)

I thought only the MULTIPLEXED cars got automatic lights?

I dont think the Xantia ever got multiplexed

yup Auto wipers on mothers Exclusive, you can tell by the sensor on the windscreen too. I think the lights are done through the same sort sensor, but I've not seen auto lights on the Xant.
I've looked at the sensors out of various pugs, & although I don't know if they use multiplex & granted I have only looked breifly at the wiring diagrams, they look a easy thing to retrofit if you so wished

Correct the auto headlights are worked by the rain sensor.

Never seen a NON plexed car with auto headlights though

Xantia was never multiplexed or the 306, facelift Xsara was & so was the last of the 406s

All Citroëns from the 90's on with Swedish market specification have auto dip beam (DRL = day running lights).

Hmm I don't think this is quite the same thing... we are talking about lights that come on automatically as it gets dark.

All Mk2 Xantias (98 on) SX and above had auto wipers. No mention of auto headlights.

Having a clear-out recently I found a Xantia brochure from 98 when I bought my last one. It has the full spec for all models. I can scan it and PDF it if anyone's interested?
