XANTIA SUSPENSION

Hi Gang,

Can anybody suggest what the following problem is??????

The rear suspension is striking the the rubber stoppers on the the arms when it hits large bumps even at low speeds.

Any suggestions to solve same gratefully recieved.

maybe the height corrector? or flat spheres

The hieght corrector or sticky linkage is the most likely problem. Flat spheres wont cause it to ride lower, only to make the suspension very hard and bouncy. Look at the trailing arms, they should be more or less parallel with the road, if they slope upwards toward the wheels, the car is riding to low. Try WD40 on the linkage and make sure the plastic link hasn't broken.

Hi Deian,

Height corrector changed approx 2 years ago , spheres changed approx 6 mths ago.

Suggestion for melting pot rear wishbone arm or rear suspension assembly on which the sphere is screwed?

Suggestions please!

If your wheels are leaning in at the top - trailing arm bearings.

Will check wheels as I am fairly confident that everything else is OK.

Is the rear ride height correct. The linkage siezes easily - soaking it in WD40 and then oiling it may help.

Is the plastic link still there and connected to the height corrector? If its all nice and free and hasn't bent then the height may need to be adjusted (rotate clamp on anit-roll bar - but support the car carefully or else it will KILL you)

My guess is that the linkage has siezed and bent.

What model Xantia - has it got hydractive?
