Berlingo ignition/key/immobiliser fault

Hello. I've got a Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.8 petrol, year 2000. A couple of weeks ago it wouldn't start - it turned over but there was no spark. The key symbol, on some occassions appeared, on the dash indicating that the key wasn't recognised. I called the AA and after a bit of prodding around they simply turned the key upside down and it started. He said that it was a fault with the key, and although the key continued to work I thought it best if I ordered a couple of new ones from a main dealer. Unfortunately Freeborns, the dealer I had purchased it from had supplied the incorrect codes with the vehicle, adding another £40+vat to an already excessive (in my opinion) bill, but that's another story. Now a couple of weeks after it first failed to start it will not start again, even with the new keys. The same key symbol is appearing on the dash. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is the problem likely to be with the ECU? Any help would be appreciated.

try replacing the transponder aerial aroun the ignition barrel,its relativley cheap & easy to change.this is the most likely cause of the fault.

A new transponder aerial is less then £10 from a Citroen dealer

I bet the old aerial will rattle when you shake it
