clunk at the front

Post by Jshodgson »

When I pull away I notice a clunk coming fom the front of my car. I can almost feel it through the pedals I think. The only time it doesn't do it is if I pull away extremely slowly with lots of revs. It also appears if I jolt it into 2nd gear. I can't hear when I go over bumps (I had a saxo that had a similar problem and it turned out to be the suspension arm banging on the bottom of the car).

Any ideas? Need I worry? Anything obvious I should look for when next under it?

Thanks

Get it on axle stands, get underneath and have a look at the rear engine mount- the round one from the back of the engine to the bottom of the bulkhead. The rubber disc is probably crumbling away.
