Xantia steering wheel radio controls
I love my radio controls on my Xantia and when I got my new estate I didn't the lack of a rev counter (my old one only ever worked for the first 15 minutes anyway) but today I've discovered that the volume - button actaullay turns the volume up and the volume + button sends it into searching the pre sets! I've tried all the buttons and the rest work fine. Any ideas how I can get my volume - back?

There is actually a resistor pack inside the steering wheel. It looks like lots of small resistors souldered onto a circuit board.
When you operate a button on the wheel it just switches in a resistor.
The radio sees the value of resistance presented to it and carries out the relevant operation.
You could try removing your air bag and then unplug and replug the connector to the resistor pack. This may clean off some corrosion or oxidation on the actual connector. Oxidation or a bad connection will be interpreted as additional resistance and the wrong operation will result.
Also, you could try the same on the connectors on the back of the radio. They may need a "cleaning".
Good luck.
