Xantia speedo cable removal

Hi Folks,

How awkward is it to remove the top half speedo cable from the dashboard?

I had the dash clocks out the other day and couldn't see any obvious way to release the cable from the dashboard.

Any ideas folks?.....please :?

No one ever replaced their speedo cable then :o
1994 Xantia 1.9TD sx non anti sink.No aircon.Gone to the great scappy up above.

Later '95 on Xantias have the electronic sender & electric cable unit. Thats why me guess :wink:

The earlier (like the BX) style mechanical cable is secured with a sort of bajonet (squeeze & twist) coupling. Old cables are prone to crumble in the plastic coupling when you squeeze it. Only remedy ís to replace.

I'd say on a '94 you dont go replacing just the upper half. Replace the complete cable run making sure you dont get a flickering speedo needle on re-assembly. The cable is a cheap standard spare part available at most aftermarket dealers.
