Hi I'm new ;)

Post by td2k »

Just bought a M plate Xantia TD LX as my daily drive, very happy with it. Last Citroen I had was an XM about 10 years ago, I had forgotten how smooth the ride is....

There are a couple of issues with the car, its difficult to get into 1st/2nd gear (I'm assuming just the gearbox oil needs replacing), and the rear ride hight adjuster is a bit sticky, so will be sorting these out shortly :)

I am after a couple of "missing" bits, the main one is a rear parcel shelf (mines missing) and a IR central locking plip.

Many Thanks,
AB

Welcome on board -

Dont think its a matter of replacing gear oil. These oils tends to last "forever". Instead check the gear oil level - and the pedal height. Citroen clutch pedals usually must have some 140mm clearance over any carpetting on the floor. That is quite higher than the other 2 pedals.

I agree with Anders. The clutch pedal should break a bit above the floor - for some reason all professionals changing clutches seem to regard adjustment of the clutch cable as a job they must never do!

Regarding your parcel shelf, there was one on ebay the other day, just search for xantia parcel shelf, i'm sure there was quite a few days left on it.

Hi,

I've got a spare parcel shelf in my garage.

You can have it if you can arrange to pick it up.

Cheers,

Kev

Always had slight problem engaging 1st on my zx - found that slipping it into 2nd then into 1st helped.

Thanks for the replies :D Will have a look at the clutch adjustment over the weekend. The clutch pedal is only just higher than the break pedal....

Kev, where abouts are you?
