Tip for replacing ZX suspension arm

Post by simoncanfer »

I thought it would be worth recording here how I managed to align bolt holes when installing a front suspension arm purchased from Andyspares. It came complete with rubber bushes.

At first sight the rear rubber bush was at a most unfriendly angle - so the bolt could not be aligned.

After a few skinned knuckles, the solution I found was to use the small screw in the rear mount to pull the mounting block into alignment. It was just possible to get the screw to bite and rotate the block, so that the big bolt could be inserted.

I imagine the block was either assembled on the arm incorrectly, or it is in the right position - and so unstressed when the car settles on the suspension.

Last tip - buy a stock of M8 nylock nuts!

Hope this helps someone, if only me in a few years time...
