i'm on gsf site now ok, and i'm looking to buy an accumulator sphere for my xantia, dilemma is... £19.50 for a replacement, who makes the replacement part? or £42 for a genuine one (and who makes this too?), is it worth the £22.50 more for a genuine part?
and eurocarparts have it for £19.58, for a IFHS/ALKO branded one.
also, there is only one type of accumulator sphere on the xantias right?
thanks peeps
buying spheres...

I've been told the seals on GSF spheres are harder. I had a Cit specialist (Citraulix, Bradford) fit an accumulator sphere I couldn't budge and I supplied them with a GSF sphere. The LHM spilled out because the mechanic was used to using genuine Citroen seals.
I believe they replaced the seal with a Citroen part, and refitted the GSF sphere.

More likely he left the seal round the neck of the sphere and cut it when he tightened it - and persuaded you to pay for the other one he had there (which may have been a simple 'O' ring which I have had supplied to me with a regassed sphere from a well known factor (NOT GSF or Eurocar Parts.)

I would agree Jeremy, me and Wilkobob never did spheres before but had a little moment of getting the seals placed into the necks properly when tightening (at least i know an electrical screw driver comes in handy).....however my mate never realised that at the front on the sphere he was doing he never took out the old seal, until 5 minutes of head scratching i realised what he did

The square section seals seem to work better than the O ring type, and you can pop them into the register where they sit before screwing the sphere on (hand tight)
