C5 Ride Height Dashboard Display

Last night while I was driving home from work an alarm beep sounded in the car and all the ride height indicator lights on the dashboard came on and stayed on.
I was only a couple of miles from home so I kept going.
When I stopped the car in my driveway I tried to move the suspension through it's various positions but there wasn't a kick out of the hydraulic pump. The car would not go up or down.
When I turned off the engine all the ride height lights on the dashboard stayed on.
I left the car for about one hour and then started it again and everything worked normally. I did some citaerobics and drove the 26 miles to work this morning with no problems.
Does anyone know what it's all about?

About a month since, I was driving my C5 on a motorway in heavy rain with lots of standing water. Mine beeped, all the ride height lights came on and the back end raised to full height (not funny at 70 mph). I got it into Citroen who replaced the rear ride height adjuster under warranty (Height adjuster full of water they said). I thought this strange as the warranty on the suspension is only for 2 years and my car is 2.5 yrs but I am not complaining. Perhaps there is a known fault.
Never had any problems with my previous C5

C5's height sensors usually die, but this seems not to be the case. Anyway, could be a sign of a failing sensor saying so long...:S

yeah most likely a failing height sensor (or two).all four suspension lights coming on is the fault warning for suspension faults.

BXs don't have any of this stuff.

So it doesn't go wrong.

Thanks for the info my fellow citronuts.
Is changing a height sensor a job for the dealers only.
Are they available to buy as spurious parts?
Are they difficult to replace.
Could a diy head like myself do it.

very easy job to do.just pop the rod off it the 2 bolt hold it on,just make sure you take note of the way its fitted,the sensors are the same for the back and front so they can be fitted 2 ways.
no programming is required unless the heights are way out (which is unlikely if they were ok before.

the bloke at my cit dealer told me that the suspension on C5's had a warranty of five years!

have i been told a load of rubbish???

Hmmmm, sort of.

I think he meant that the C5 suspension shouldn't need any maintenance for 5 years like spheres replacing etc.

Exactly!
I thought too that they meant it had a warranty, but no, they warrant that it'll be free from problems and maintenace for 5 years. Same word, different meanings, depending on how you use it.
The suspension is guarantied for 2 years for defects of parts.

BTW, how do i write this correctly, warranty or guaranty?

I thought it would have had the standard Citroen 3 year warranty if it was a U.K. soured car?

That's provided it was serviced on time & the VAT registered garage used genuine Citroen parts

I do seem to remember that Citroen offered an extended warranty on the suspension for a while - no doubt to reassure potential buyers who were scared of HP suspension - but what it amounted to I'm not sure.
