xantia suspension

Post by nigel2671 »

citroen xantia LX TD. after braking the discs seem to rub for a while afterwards and also when breaking the car tends to break then ease off, break then ease off as if there is something wrong with the ABS (but no ABS). Now the rear suspension wont raise at all. can anybody help.

Your first problem is probably just sticking calipers, clean any rust off and make sure they slide easily. A few drops of LHM fluid squirted undr the edge of the piston seals will often improve matters.

The rear suspension fault could be caused by a broken plastic clip in the height corrector linkage, or it could just be sticking, try squirting it with WD40 several times.

As for the brakes gripping and easing off, how quickly does this pattern happen ? If it's about every second or two it could be that the accumulator sphere is flat...

Try looking up the quick accumulator sphere test on the forum and see if it is...
