ingnition barrel change

Ignition barrel change
Has any one out there ever changed the ignition barrel on a xantia?, & kept the same key!!
Mine is starting to wear out from the inside, as when I remove the key, it doesn’t always turn off all items as I found out last night when I tried to deadlock it with the key.

Dom,
No I haven't - a good locksmith may be able to advise.
But I'm curious to know if your key ever comes out hot after a drive? Mine is intermittently cold, warm and uncomfortably warm even though the switch behind the lock has been replaced.
I've found getting a Xantia key made at all quite a challenge in Western Australia. So I doubt I'd be able to get a lock modified.
Cheers
John

john, have you got any more ideas on how easy it is to replace the barrel & keep the same key??
will keep you informed on your 'hot key' problem, how long a drive are we talking about?
you can get spare keys from (dare i say it) main dealer, as the locksmiths i've spoken to say it needs a four sided blank key which are quite hard to come by.

If you get another barrell from a scrap Yard car send your key along with the barrell SS locks will modify the barrell to suit your key. Then you fit the modified barrell to your car .
