Aux Drive Belt: Haynes??

Post by drewmunn »

Page 1B:13 Shows the tightening of the aux drive belt on a 19 l engine, but on the same page it shows a different way of tightening it, which requires jacking the car up, taking the wheel off and going in from underneath.

Can anyone tell me the correct way for the Xantia TDS LX (Diesel), non air con, 1995? Please.

Merely photographed at different angles for purposes of clarity, the procedure is still the same, you will find it easier to remove the wheel to adjust the belt, especially if the plastic guards are still in place.

There is no way from the bonnet/engine compartment, your choices are from directly underneath with wheel on or (easiest) through the wheel arch with wheel off.
