AX gearbox ratios

Post by Quinny »

I have an AX 1100 autograss car, which, apart from the cylinder head which is off the 1360 GT,and has twin 40 DCNF Weber carbs on,is basically a standard Saxo lump at the bottom. It has only 2 gears in the gearbox, and is run on 175x70x13 tyres.

Now,I feel that the 2nd gear isn't tall enough, and without wanting to resort to running 14" tyres,to make it slightly taller, and losing off the line acceleration,I want to know if there is a gearbox in the AX/Saxo/106 range, that might suit my needs?

My guess the standard (non GTI, non twin) 14TRS gearbox would be a bit long legged. Look for BX14TRE/RE ('88 on) models which have same engine/box.

Many thanks for that Anders.

That gives me a benchmark to work from.
