Hydractive II on 1998 SX Xantia??

Post by deian »

Did this happen or was it still only on VSX models? Parkers guides (uk) mentions nothing of hydractive 2 on the facelift models. Any info would be great.

Thanks

No, I don't believe the SX was ever equipped with Hydractive 2, it was only ever on the VSX and Exclusive models. In some countries (such as Australia) the VSX designation was dropped altogether for the Series 2 models, and what used to be called VSX merged with the Exclusive model and was called "Exclusive". So for Series 2 you're probably looking for an Exclusive to get Hydractive 2...

There's not much difference between VSX and Exclusive. Mainly things like leather seats, rear view mirror heaters, heated seats etc, depending on the country, mechanically they are much the same.

(For example I doubt if the Australian version of the Exclusive got the seat and mirror heaters - it would be like selling a freezer to an eskimo  )

I saw an 'R' Reg ( 1997/98 ) mark 1 sx estate in a breakers yard the other day. It had the Hydractive button next to the height selector. Does this mean it had Hydractive 2?

Hmm...

Check under the bonnet or rear and see if it has the fat 10mm hydraulic pipes feeding the suspension cylinders, if not, then it could have just had the centre console replaced in the past, and ended up with an extra button that goes nowhere...

Also, which panels had the SX designation ? (Drivers door ?) Possibly a door replaced.

I just checked and I notice that my VSX doesn't actually say VSX on it anywhere.... it just says 2.0i on the front doors, only the registration papers mention that its a VSX...

Hydractive was definately only fitted to VSX and Exclusive models in the UK.

But, Citroen had a nasty habit of supplying different spec on the "same" model in a different country. It is possible that a grey import SX, or private import SX, even one sourced on the continent (but RHD) may have a foreign spec.
