More Xantia suspension woes!

Post by Xantia troubles »

I am struggling yet again with my 95 1.9 TD VSX Hatch!
On first starting the car from cold, the front lifts up reasonably quickly, and is followed by the rear (sometimes!) The rear can take anything up to a minute to heave itself up, although if you move the car backwards or forwards, it seems to wake up, and pick itself up!
would appreciate anyones words of wisdom!

Sounds as thought he rear height control valve linkage is sticking. A few aplications of WD40 over a few days should help.

It links to the rear anti-roll bar - so find that and see what's attached, probably via some strangely bent metal and eventually you'll find the height corrector - small, disc shaped with pipes!

Be careful and support the car properly - if it drops with you underneath it will KILL you.

Height Corrector Rear

Post by ACTIVE8 »

The rear height corrector is shown in a diagram on this thread.

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=18103

Thanks are due to Clogzz for providing it.

The diagram shows both front, and rear height correctors.

The rear height corrector is on the right with the item no 2

Item no 6 is a plastic linkage that can come off, and can cause problems.

The actual height correctors have several linkages, and pivot points so they can be prone to sticking.

Note, if you are going to work under the car make sure it is properly supported safely with axle stands.

PLEASE DO NOT GET UNDER A CITROEN WITHOUT THE CORRECT AND PROPER SUPPORT. IT IS DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE CAR COULD DESCEND, AND INJURE OR KILL

Refer to this thread for additional information on the safety issue.

http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... hp?t=18015

The rear height corrector is located between the two rear wheels.

Thanks for all the info, I have spent a happy hour with a wire brush and a canof WD40, and there is a marked improvement, it now lifts itself up as it should do, and on sitting in the boot, it corrects itself too!
That just leaves all the other little jobs.........Somebody buy it please, before I go grey!!
