C3 Info please.

Hi,

I normally hang out in the Peugeot section but might be getting hold of a C3 HDi at bargain basement money soon. :D

Is there anything I need to watch out for? It can't be harder to work on than a 405 Tdi can it? :cry:

I've had Cits before, DS, CX, BX so I know they can be a bit quirky.

The C3 has a small engine with (on most models), aircon compressors, pipework and radiators, normal cooling radiator, intercooler, turbocharger etc etc squeezed under a small bonnet.

The 16v model is nice to drive and quick.

I have had problems with a howling sound from the generator/crank pully area. The dealer ended up replacing both the generator and the belt tensioner (warranty job). Unfortunately there still seem to be a little bit of howling left at about 2000rpm.. :(

Front light bulbs are a pig :evil: .. No space, I imagine other engine jobs may be equal problematic.

Apart from all this, it's a nice little car with excellent fuel economy and I enjoy using it on a daily basis.

not sure which it was but I'm assuming it was a HDi that at 80mph (on a private road) was still pulling hard away from my bro's 306 TD.
