Laguna / Xantia Key Remote problems

Post by Grant Richardson »

1 question 2 cars!!!
I have a Citroen xantia '93' VSX and both key remotes don’t work, i was wondering if there is a way to realign the key with the sensor. I work in electronics and have tested both the keys and both work fine i.e. output pulses ok. So if any one knows how to fix this problem it would be appreciated.
I also own a Renault Laguna '96'. I have lost one of the sets of keys and the remaining set is starting to play up. Again the key itself seems to be operating OK. The main worry is that the key disables the imobiliser on the Laguna so no working key means no car!!
New batterys are in both sets of keys.

I read something once before on one of the topics regarding the Xantia remote key. If I remember well, it was because of changing the battery.
It said that you have to put the key in the ignition and turn it just on to power (don't start). Press the remote keys a few times and it should be aligned.
I tried to find the topic back but I couldn't. I am sure Alan S will correct me when I am in the wrong!
Cheers,
John
