Leaking Suspension Strut Top

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi All,
Just noticed LHM oil coming from suspesion strut top;- see pic link;

Is there a seal between the top of strut top and the black rounded bit underneath ?, and if there is, can it be obtained seperately. Bloody Cits, just when you think all is quiet, they rear up and bite your bum. :(
Regards,
Greg

Sure its not simply the sphere seal ?

You have a PM on how to trace down the strut top seal.

A better picture would help a lot... that one is too out of focus and in too close to be able to make out much from it...maybe a couple of pictures from different angles and a bit further back...

AFAIK the only possible leak points for a strut top would be the sphere mounting face, the pipe union, or the nut at the top. (The latter being very unlikely - just prise the plastic cap off the top to check that possibility)

Simon

Leaking Suspension Strut Top

Post by Gregg1100 »

Hi Anders and Simon,
Piccy was a bit iffy I know, it was just getting dark when I took it. It seems that there are 2 seals in there somewhere, according to Cit main dealer , and being proved by Anders. I have ordered those, about a week they said, so will have to keep putting in the LHM. I will get this done and MOT`ed then bung it in for a TD, but a basic one, I think.
Thanks,
Greg

Leaking Suspension Strut Top

Hi Anders,
The leaky suspension top was only a slightly loose union nut holding the supply pipe to suspension top. Nipped it up and goodbye leak.
I have some suspension leg seals now--useless, nearly £10-
