XM hydraulic leak from steering ram
Any advice please on how to tighten up the upper one of two pipes going into the steering ram-inaccessible even by Citroen standards. We've just sorted out a leak around the pressure regulator and now this one has appeared-presumably because the pressure is now as it should be! We seem to need a 12mm open ended obstruction spanner, which doesn't seem to exist. . . . cheers.
If a tool doesnt exist - then make one yourself 8)
Even hardened chrome-vanadium ring spanners can be bend and filed to shape and grip - and they are no more that costly as they used to be.
There is a risc that exactly these pipes in question can develop hairline cracks. This is because the pipes have a rigid fixation to the ram cylinder - while the ram cylinder is fixed with rubber bushes to the steering box & rack.
Might be worthwhile checking if the rubbers is past their lifetime - causing ther rigid piping to flex.
The rigid piping here is the common brake-lines type flaring. Not the usual Citroen ones with seals.
