last chance.. height corrector

all, can someone say for definate, that I cannot buy repair a kit etc for a height corrector?

I had one rebuilt by a Citroen specialist 5 years ago.

The kit to rebuild it does exist, but I haven't seen anybody advertise it anywhere. Selling a whole new height corrector is far more lucrative. Mechanics vary in quality, some can only manage replacing something complex rather than taking it apart, understanding it and reconditioning it, or are simply unwilling to try / pushed for time / cant be bothered etc.

why do you need a repair kit what is the problem with your H/C,more often than not they just need stipping down cleaning thouraly with petrol and reasembling,as there realy is not much that can go wrong with them,the main thing that somtimes needs replacing is the diaphrams and dust covers at each end,which are avalible as they are the same as all the other H/Cs used on all hydraulic cits

No repair kit exists - and never did for the HC ?

I believe you are asking for this because you assume the HC function relies on O-rings, seals etc ?
This is not the case. As Malcolm writes : often all you need is simply to disassemble, clean and lube with fresh LHM.
Take care with disassembly. Its clockwork precision parts.

mine leaks, and i am 99% sure there is a nick/small tear in the Rearmost Diaphragm...

I will take it apart and investigate more tomorrow.

The outer rubber dust cap (plain and w/ hole for ballhook) and the inner rubber diagphram is available - together with that odd steel ring fixing the inner rubber.
And of course the pipe seals.

are these part numbers?

I have at home, two new retainer rings, and pipe seals. So really just want a Diaphragm. My Citroen supplier in worthing wont supply it, who will?

Sorry my late answer John - did not noticed you want a confirmation on the above list.
Here is what I found available on PR-net for the BX height corrector. These parts are universal to all HC's on all models.
5 410 408 CORRECTOR CUP (dust cap no hole)
5 410 407 CORRECTOR CUP (dust cap w/ hole)
5 410 406 AJUSTER RING (steel retainer ring for diaphragm)
5 410 405 CORRECTOR CUP (outer steel dish on diaphragm)
5 410 732 CORR DIAPHRAGM (diaphragm)
6979 55 STOP-RING (tiny C-lock ring on valve rod)

So YES - all systems go !

In the end Active 8's advice of ringing Brodie engineering seems to be the answer. They are sending both inner Diapragms and outer dust seals. I already have retainer rings..

Wish my luck for MOT friday afternoon with no leaking corrector
