C5 rear brake pads

Post by brian.r.uk »

tomorrow i will be changing the rear brake pads on my 2002 C5 2.0hdi sx,can any of you experts out there tell me if this a straightforward job like the bx and xantia or is there anything i need to look out for.i recently changed the front discs and pads and that was the easiest job i have ever done on brakes.lets hope the rear are as easy.thanks in advance.

The C5 suffers from the same problem as the Xantia on the rear calipers. The alloy body starts to corrode, and pushes the calipers away from the steel mounting bracket. My C5 was only 4 years old when I changed the rear pads, and I had a hell of a job getting the calipers off, cleaning the corrosion, and applying a heavy coat of copper grease before refitting. Yours may be fine, but it is smoething you need to be aware of.
