306 Rear Lights

Hi all,

The rear lights on my 306TD are currently giving me a bit of grief. If the indicators are used when the lights are on, the lights go dim. I understand this is caused by a bad earth - can anyone advise how to sort?

Hi

Look at the connector plugs for both rear lights.

Find the yellow & green earth cable in the plugs.

You will find the terminal this cable is connected to is dirty or has a poor connection, Clean them up & make sure they are a tight fit on the pins on the bulb holder.

For a more long term fix you can solder a new earth wire onto the main metal earth part of the lamp holder & then attach the other end to the earth wire on the wiring loom.

You need a good high powered soldering iron to do this, 100 watts would be fine, If you dont own one yourself you could always borrow a friends iron.

You need to do this fix to both rear lights

I tried wiggling the connectors a few days ago, but didn't actually think of giving them a good clean. Didn't really expect the connections to deteriorate I suppose

Will have a go this weekend.
