Problems with 306

Post by steve306 »

My 306 has recently developed a problem, basically what happens is when I accerate, my headlights and dashboard lights go dim, I've been told it may be something to do with an earth wire but I'm not sure what to do about it.

I've cleaned the two wires at the side of the battery that are connected to the body and this improved it slightly but i'm still having problems.

It's an S reg 1.6 XS petrol

Any tips would be gratefully received.

Cheers
Steve :)

There should be a thick wire going from the battery to the engine.
It may be loose at the engine end.
When accelerating, the engine moves in its mounts, and so does the wire.

Yes, coming from the negative of the battery, and going to the engine block.

It attaches to the top of the gearbox ( not the engine block ) & then loops off & attaches to the cars bodyshell
