Dear All!
Have a gear problem today.
Gear stick moving only forward or backward (no side movement possible). Looks like it's 3rd it is stuck in.
Any ideas?
Thank You.
Oleg.
PS. there are another small question - the rubber pipe going from the filler cap of the hydraulic tank - is it connected to anything on the other end?
my one just free floating...
Or it's just a breather pipe?

this sounds like what happened to me when i put into a service area in a motorway near me.
After getting recovered to the local halfords, found out that it was one of the linkages had pulled itself apart<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>, from what i was told the linkages have a rubber donut built-in to assorbed the movement from the gearbox.
this cost me only £35.00 + fitting + vat to get sorted.
hope this helps.

I would hazard a guess that you've had a linkage drop off as Dom suggests. You may find that it isn't necessarily at the gearbox end either in which case you'll be able to access via the centre console region. A temporary measure to use if it appears so loose as to not want to stay in place, is to hold on with a zip tie which should at least leave the car driveable until permanent repairs are done.
The pipe attached to the LHM tank filler cap is as suggested a breather/overflow pipe.
Word of advice though; if you are getting under this car working around the region of the gear linkages (or at anytime for that matter) be sure normal hydraulic Citroen safety practices are employed. Axle stands or only up on a ramp or over a pit. With this job it could be real easy to grab something associated with the height correctors if you don't know what all the levers & linkages are for. Hopefully, it may be sorted from within the cabin

It was gear linkage.
The gearchange linkage fork, just behind the engine get unscrewed so fork ball connection to the main rod fall apart.
I lost both plastic fittings in gearshift rod for the fork ball and spacer in fork axis. It's driving without thoose things, but I'm goint to dealer to buy one's.
Looks like dealer sell the complete gearshift rod assembly.
Did anyone know where to that plastic fittings separately?
