Rev counter on berlingo acting odd. Please help!

Post by kb »

The rev conter on my 2001 Berlingo multispace 1.9d has started to act oddly. When driving along the needle started to register below the numbers at the bottom of the gauge. After a short time it reset to zero and was flickering about the zero like it was trying to move but din't have the energy. It occasionally jumps to 10 on a gear change, but otherwise does not move. Can someone please help, my hubby is getting really annoyed with my choice of car, lots of little things going wrong. I really don't fancy paying Citroen another £30 to plug it into their computer just to diagnose the fault. Please, if it is a simple repair could you give info in childlike detail, as I am not familiar with the inside of an engine compartment, I know where the oil and water go and not much else! Can someone please help.
