Berlingo rev counter acting oddly. Please help!!!

Post by kb »

Please could someone give me some advice. I have a 2001 Berlingo multispace forte 1.9d. While driving along I noticed my rev counter started to act oddly. Firstly, it began going backwards with the needle registering below any numbers at the bottom of the dial. It then seemed to reset itself a zero, with the occasional move upto 10 on a gear change, but immediately returning to zero. The needle just wobbles a bit around the zero when driving, like it hasn't got the energy to move. Please could someone advise, I don't fancy paying Citroen £30 to plug in to their computer just to find out what is wrong. If there is a simple and easy repair could someone please advise in child like terms as I am not very good with the inside of an engine bay (I know where the water goes and the oil and thats about it) please help, my hubby is getting a little annoyed with all the little things that are going wrong on this, the car I picked!!!
