zx/ berlingo brakes

Post by 8304 »

hi

has anybody any experience with fitting berlingo van brakes onto the front of a zx?

what year van do i need to get the callipers off?

do they bolt straight on?

do they fit the standard td vented discs or do they need berlingo discs on the front?

any comments?

You will probably find what you want if you search this site. The first question must be 'What's wrong with the existing system - and is what you've got working properly' - like slack back brakes due to siezed adjusters causing excessive pedal travel.

This thread may help - as I say there are many others

zx brakes

i know my brakes are in good nick as all pads have been renewed, sliders greased and bled etc in the last 6 months and it brakes in a straight line so there are no stuck pistons or anything.

It has discs on the back so there arnt any adjusters to sieze..

in truth there isnt anything wrong with the current setup but i enjoy modifying and upgrading my cars and so i am doing it for my entertainment rather than out of it being a neccessity.

i will do a search on the rest of the site...

do the 16v upgrade, fit stainless hoses & renew the fluid, fit some fast road pads & standard discs.
To be honist you'd be suprised how much of a differance just new brake fluid will make.

Funny I did the same search last night.

1) Berlingo disc's

2) Berlingo Van Calipers. They must be Girling, some are fitted with Bosch and will not fit.

As Jeremy says, if you do a search as I did, you'll find a host of info going back to 2002.

Good Luck

Jon ex forum webmaster did that swop about 18 months ago, he posted a fairly comprehensive account of his progress at the time. All I remember was that he needed longer flexies on the front.

I was a bit cross at the time as I had just done the volcane - ZX swop not knowing that the Berlingo van brakes fitted.. Dohhh
