Xsara heater problem

Hi, i have a 2000 xsara hdi. not air con. the problem is that the heater will only blow on the 4th setting but not the rest. I have changed the 3 spring and resistor component, and it worked for a few days but it went again. I would be greatful for any suggestions regarding solving this problem.

whats the chances of fitting new resistors but with a bigger voltage (or whatever the term is) so they can handle more current?

Does the car have a pollen filter ?
If yes, a blocked filter will cause high current that will strain the resistors.

Check for debries if all fails in the motor housing. easy job on the Xsara. Foot well carpet back, undo screws and hey presto out she comes.
