C5 and GPS

Post by civvie »

Santa has given me a super dupa Navman for xmas and it is the usual problem of the signal getting through the windscreen, Iknow I will have to see about an external aerial. One question though, how does the signal get to the GPS receivers that are factory fitted. Could I try that route? it would maybe save wires hanging all over the place.
Any comments please.

there is a place on the rearview mirror surrounding, that has little or no dots. If at all possible fit the receiver there ;)
cheers!

Francisco,

Thanks for the reply, I was also looking at that region to fix the aerial, do those little dots upset the signal, should I try and scrap them off? (don't want it outside on the roof with wires trailing), I was also curious where Citroen fitted the aerial on their models that had sat nav as a fitted option.

Are ALL the windows anorexic or what ever they call this special glass?

the dotted area around the rear view mirror on the windscreen is the only area on the screen which does not have the athermic coating.try there first.

the little black dots wont stop the signal its the athermic coating in the screen, the area to each side of the mirror does not have any coating although there is the dots, you can see the difference better if you look at the glass from the outside.
the recever on the C5 factory satnav is in the base of the normal aerial.the aerials look the same as the normal ones but they are different inside.
