Cold Start Problem

Unread post by acid drop »

1992 clio 1.4 rt On starting from cold engine does not run smoothly feels like the choke is not working. But as it is fuel injected (single point) there is no choke,as like a carburettor.Once the engine is warmed up it runs sweetly. Is there a cold start resistor or something I should be checking?.
Haynes Manual is no help.
if it aint broke don't fix it

Thermostat and sensors for the coolant OK?. Not too sure how they work myself but.... generally there's a sensor for your temp guage and a sensor for the cold start, which is wired throught the ECU and tells it the engine is cold and there for to over fuel the injection. As the engine warms this sensor tells the ECU there's no need for too rich a mixture so off it goes. You can test it by unplugging it when the engine is cold, if there's no difference when starting you've found your problem.
