C5 Diesel Filter or Particle Filter

Post by wigelywoo »

Thanks to all who replied to my problem
Unblock Diesel Filter.
It seems to be that you think the problem could be the Particle Filter.
But, what I don't understand is
I've not had any warnings, as in the handbook,
"Diesel additive minimum level"
or "Paticle filter blockage risk"
The only warning, which I can't find in the hand book, is
"Unblock diesel fiter"
Am I wrong in assuming this is the fuel filter?

In case it is the fuel filter, unscrew a bit the bottom white knob on the filter housing and wait until you start to get diesel coming out of the tube. ;)

It is a problem with the particle filter 'unblock diesel filter' i believe is just a poor translation from french. you didnt say what mileage the car has,if it is less than 50,000 miles then it may just need a 'forced' re-generation to burn off the carbon in the filter, unfortuneately you need a Lexia or Proxia machine to do this.

Bit the bullett in the end and took car for diagnostics check at dealers.
They say it is in the fuel system
They would need to investigate further but think it could be the sensor, or the filter kit.
The filter kit comprises of new filter plus the plastic bowl and top, where the pipes connect.
The sensor is £145.00 +vat+fitting
The Filter kit £46.00 +vat+fitting

Whilst I don't mind paying to rectify the problem I don't want to pay for things that aren't necessary.

Any Ideas
Thanks

Spot on mate, I took it to local Cit dealership asked if they could confirm particle filter or not.
They put it on Diagnostics and told me it could be 1), fuel filter housing@ £46+ vat+ fitting or 2). fuel pressure sensor @ £145+ vat+ fitting.
They said it would require further investigation, took my £41, and never confirmed particle filter or not
I went to a Bosch centre where they confirmed particle filter
Had job done yesterday, not at local Cit dealer, and looks like we've done it.
Many Thanks
