Tailgate Struts

Post by np »

My tailgate struts seem to have gone from holding the tailgate up on sat,to not holdong it up at all on mon.Wont stay up at all.Citroen want £28 +vat each.Which i spose isn`t bad.2 yrs ago i had to put a new hitch damper on our caravan.Same diameter as the tailgate struts, but only about 6" when closed.£50 just for that! So £28 each isn`t to bad.
Anyway,is there anywhere else i may get some?

Sorry  :?
GSF & E carparts websites list them a bit cheaper.
Thing is i`m working 7am-7pm at the mo,inc w/ends & between xmas & new yr.Dont have any time to ring around at work,& my phone bill is huge!
Its usally slow this time of year at work(earth moving, huge diggers & dumpers) but we are flat out at the mo shifting coal at the docks,so i get very tired & confused :? :? :? :)
Got to get these done though as i`m in & out the boot each day.

GSF do a very good postal service, although I don't rate your chances at this time of year!

Gas struts are an 'off the shelf' part - one of the few used by Citroen!
If you're in a hurry, ring around local industrial suppliers (hydraulics, that sort of thing), and they'll probably be able to help.

Tailgate struts

Post by Robin »

If there is any pressure left in them at all Pleiades at Sawtry, Cambridgeshire will re pressurise them for about £12 a time. http://www.pleiades.uk.com/
They will not do it if they have the slightest suspicion of failure.
Have a great 2006 folks!

Will pleiades re-gas the glovebox struts on an XM? If they will, that would be beneficial!!

Regards
David.
